The Huntsville International Airport upgraded its baggage claim operations by replacing the current 20+ year old flat plate baggage handling system with continuous oval carousels. This project included three carousels, improved and enlarged rental car areas, inbound and lost baggage operations, and a new Huntsville Madison county Visitor Center.

This phase of expansion for Huntsville International Airport allow easier passenger access to baggage claim from the airport concourse by providing new elevators and escalators into the lobby area. A new elevated enclosed pedestrian bridge connects to the recently completed parking deck.

The new baggage claim will be able to handle projected growth for the next twenty years.
